Woman of Valor
The words woman of valor came to me as I was walking. My vocabulary has expanded through the years, but valor is one word I don’t frequently hear. When I hear a word that I don’t use much in my everyday life I perf up to it because God is speaking to me. I pay attention because the word may be for myself or for others and it needs more investigation.
I didn’t know the meaning of valor, so I looked it up.
Valor = strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness, personal bravery, courage.
If you’ve been with me for long you know that I enjoy digging into word meanings and then into scripture for more context to apply to our real lives. My investigation led to finding the actual word valor is rarely used in most translations, instead virtuous is more common. You can find it by searching Proverbs 31:10.
Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Proverbs 31:10 NLT
Who can find an aishes chayil (a woman of valor, an excellent wife Prov 12:4)? For her worth is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10 OJB (Orthodox Jewish Bible)
A woman of valor as described in the Amplified translation is one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous. This woman is even more as we can pick up the many descriptions of the excellent woman from Proverbs 31:10-31.
Describing a Woman of Valor:

The question on the table is…

Take time to do a self-inventory.
Look honestly at your life and the qualities you are living out.
Be brave.
Be courageous.
And step into who God has created you to be.
