Never Stop Praying

As I sit in my quiet time with God, I try to keep my thoughts from racing. I try to stay calm…

But my mind can feel like a movie trailer.

It jumps from one scene to the next—fast, loud, and all over the place. Some thoughts connect, others don’t make any sense at all.

If there were a caption for it, it might say:

“New Daily Release – Beware!”

Because you never really know what’s coming next.

My thoughts can go from:

• someone who needs prayer

• to my to-do list

• to the weather

• to supper plans

• to a verse I just read

All in a matter of seconds.

So the question becomes:

How do you tame wild, runaway thoughts?

“Take every thought captive and make it obey Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:5

Years ago, I listened to the advice of women who were wiser than me. They told me I needed to actively take my thoughts captive and turn them over to God.

But what does that actually look like?

PRAY

When my thoughts won’t settle down…

I pray.

“Never stop praying.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:17

How do we turn our thoughts into prayer?

It’s a process.

• Capture it — notice the thought

• Restrict it — don’t let it spiral

• Release it to God — turn it into prayer

________________________________________

It takes discipline.

It means catching those negative, worried thoughts and choosing to do something different with them.

Instead of letting them run wild…

👉 You hand them over to God.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.” — Philippians 4:6

________________________________________

Why does this matter?

Because prayer changes things.

________________________________________

Prayer builds our relationship with God.

He wants to hear from us—even though He already knows what we need.

“Your Father knows exactly what you need…” — Matthew 6:8

________________________________________

Prayer quiets our thoughts and emotions.

It releases tension and helps us reset.

“Each morning I bring my requests to you…” — Psalm 5:3

________________________________________

Prayer is a weapon.

It protects us and keeps us aligned with God.

“His ears are open to their prayers…” — 1 Peter 3:12

________________________________________

When we actively pray…

We begin to experience:

• more peace

• a more positive outlook

• better rest

• a calmer mind

________________________________________

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid… your sleep will be sweet.” — Proverbs 3:24

________________________________________

So when your thoughts start to spiral…

Don’t fight them alone.

👉 Give them to God.

👉 Turn them into prayer.

👉 And keep going.
