Pass It On: Living with an Eternal Perspective
Apr 01, 2026Have you ever thought about what you’re leaving behind?
Not just material things — but faith, wisdom, perseverance… the way you live your life.
We live in a world that focuses so much on the present moment, but as believers, we’re called to live with an eternal perspective. That means recognizing that what we do today doesn’t just impact us — it impacts the generations coming behind us.
Whether you realize it or not, someone is watching you run your race.
And the way you endure… gives them courage to keep going.
It Starts with Identity
Many people are curious about where they come from — family trees, ancestry, history. It gives us a sense of identity.
But here’s the truth:
Even if you don’t know your family’s spiritual background, you are not without a heritage.
The Bible is your spiritual family tree.
And because of Christ, you are no longer a slave — you are an heir.
That means something powerful:
A legacy of faith can start with you. Right now.
Why It Matters
God has always worked through generations.
From Abraham to today, His plan has been the same — that His truth would be carried forward through His people.
We don’t pass on faith because it’s a nice idea.
We do it because it’s our responsibility.
Deuteronomy (Chapters 4, 6, 11) reminds us not to forget what God has done — and to tell our children and grandchildren.
When we don’t pass it on, something breaks.
But when we do?
We build strength for the future.
What Do We Pass On?
You don’t need a platform.
You don’t need perfection.
You already have something valuable to give.
- The ways God has shown up in your life
- The prayers He has answered
- The lessons you’ve learned through hard seasons
- The truth you’ve discovered in His Word
Psalm 22 reminds us that future generations will hear about what God has done.
That happens when we choose to speak it.
How Do We Pass It On?
It’s simpler than we make it.
Faith isn’t just taught — it’s lived.
It happens:
- In everyday conversations
- In how you respond to challenges
- In how you prioritize time with God
- In the consistency of your walk
Deuteronomy 6 makes it clear — talk about God in the ordinary moments of life.
Not just in church.
Not just in Bible study.
But in the middle of real life.
The Legacy You’re Building
Here’s where this comes full circle:
Finishing well doesn’t require perfection.
It requires persistence… and a surrendered heart.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You just have to keep going.
Because when you keep going, you’re doing more than living your life —
You’re showing someone else how to live theirs.
Final Thought
So let me ask you…
What are you passing on?
Your life is telling a story.
Your choices are building a legacy.
Live in a way that points beyond today —
toward eternity.
Because what you pass on now…
will outlive you.
