Rejoice, I Say Rejoice!

Dec 01, 2022

I’ve been repeating this in my mind for the last week as I think of the word of the month – REJOICE.

When I get part of a Bible verse I need to go look it up because my memory verses have improved but still need God’s help. Google is great for when you only have part of a verse, so I typed in the phrase – rejoice, I say rejoice.

Here’s what came up – Philippians 4:4-5. Of course, if you’ve followed me for any length of time you know I love doing a version comparison to see how it is translated. I use YouVersion on my iPhone and biblegateway.com on my desktop. My current favorite version is NLT (New Living Translation).

At biblegateway.com the three versions I used were as follows:

4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. NLT

4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. NIV

4-5 Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute! The Message

In the last month of thanksgiving and gratitude I have had to force my attitude to be full of gratitude. It hasn’t been easy. Now the word of the month REJOICE sits like a lump in my throat instead of being a release of joy - it’s an ouch moment.

Rejoice for what? We’ve all been there when we can’t seem to get unstuck and the muck feels so deep it’s about to swallow us up. When times like this happen, and we know they will, this is when memory verses help get us up and out of the murky clay that wants to suffocate.

Sticking to the basics during times like this is the key and the best suggestion for us. The blahs cannot overtake us. So, what are those foundational basics that will help lead us to rejoicing?

Over the years I’ve developed a proven way to improve the day when REJOICING is the farthest thing from my mind.

5 Proven Ways to Improve Your Day – to get a FREE 10 page PDF of the expanded version of these suggestions and details to help implement them click here and I’ll send them to your email.

  1. Set an Alarm & Get Out of Bed
  2. Make Your Bed
  3. Grab Your Exercise Clothes & Get Moving
  4. Cool Down & Get Dressed
  5. God Time

Too basic? Are you saying, “What? I do most of these.” So, what’s the big deal? And how would this get me unstuck and REJOICING?

It’s been proven in my life and other women who I’ve walked alongside that these basic 5 steps will get your day anchored and set on a firm foundation to keep you from sinking into the deadly waters.

I’ve been in your shoes many days in my past and currently tetter on the edge of waters where I want to sink. BUT then God and his light that shines in me comes alive when I go to the basics of the day to reconnect with him and set the path straight again.

I believe in you and encourage you with these words because that gives me hope to know these words may have helped you today. God is good and he never fails us – Rejoice, I say REJOICE!
